FAQ

How often should I change my air filter?

The answer to this question depends on a range of factors. Energy Star, a program run by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), encourages people to change their fitler every three months at a minimum. That minimum is for those who do not use their air conditioning and heating systems regularly and do not fall into any of the groups who need to change their filters more frequently.

The following groups should consider changing their air filter once a month or at least every other month: Pet owners, smokers, people with respiratory conditions such as asthma, people who live in areas prone to pollution or fire-related air pollutants, and those who have an air filter located in a garage. If you fall into any of these groups, we recommend that you change your filter at least every other month and strongly consider changing it every month.

How do I check my air filter size?

Just about all air filters have the size written on the side. The best way to check your size is to take your current filter out and check the size on the side of the filter. If the size is not written on the side of your current filter for some reason, you can measure it with a tape measurer, just be sure to measure in inches.Â
